Take4 For The Shore

‘Take 4 For The Shore’ is a new initiative jointly hosted by Turning the Plastic Tide, the marine litter campaign for East Grampian Coastal Partnership, and the National Nature Reserves at Forvie and St Cyrus. Four additional popular visitor beaches at Fraserburgh, Balmedie, Stonehaven and East Haven in Angus were selected to be provided with special new beach clean kit boxes. Each box contains items such as litter pickers, bin bags and safety gloves with the aim of encouraging locals and visitors to help keep beaches litter free by collecting at least four items, doing so safely while using the correct equipment. The initiative has been launched with the assistance of local businesses and volunteers who will help manage the beach boxes.

Take4 For The Shore:

Do you visit a Aberdeenshire beach regularly with your family, friends or pup(s)? or are you planning a visit to Aberdeenshire soon and want to explore our stunning coastline?

Look out for our popular ‘Take4 for the Shore’ box kits placed along the Aberdeenshire coast!

It is simple - follow these 4 steps!

1)   Plan your clean & find a box - Please use local car parks or walk / use public transport or cycle to sites. Please wear suitable clothing/footwear and check tide times before you set off - TIDES4FISHING | Tides times, tide table & solunar charts for fishing - Aim to start at low tide.

2)   Borrow a litter picker, bin bag and hoop and gloves and get picking! Inside the box you will find a check list / info sheet to help you figure out what to pick up and what to avoid. Also, inside the boxes we provide sharps boxes for any sharp items (please use these with care). Please supervise any children on your beach clean.

3) When you finish after your walk / trip to the beach then return the kit so others can use it, bin any rubbish or take it home and use the hand sanitizer in the box or find a local toilet facility.

4) Tag us in your beach clean photos using #take4fortheshore. And tell your friends and family all about the box!

If any boxes are missing kit or the box / kit is damaged please let us know at:

(Please do not use the boxes as a bin)
