Nature Reserves

From the salt marshes at Waters of Philorth to the sand dunes at Forvie to the steep cliffs at St Cyrus, there is a diverse range of landscapes and habitats to explore.

A variety species including dolphins, puffins and seals can be seen regularly along the coastline and thousands of migratory seabirds come to the area to breed each year.

Along the coast, there are a number of designated nature reserves, designed to both protect the natural environment and promote appreciation and understanding of the environment and species. As well as information on the natural history and species of the area, there are board walks and paths in the reserves for visitors to enjoy.
